Hi! I was thinking of looking in bonevevcat food as a base to the Ziwi Peak Air Dried as a topper, but I cant find any analysis on Boneve... was wondering if anyone could share their experiences of opinions on Boneve's dry food quality for cats?

She also gets schesir wet food 2-3 times a week awith freeze dried egg cubes and she generally drinks lots of water! Im thinking of adding open farm broth to her dry food as well.

Hi Auguries Avarice, I'm happy to share some of my thoughts about Boneve. I haven't tried it myself but I've spent a little time looking over the product labels and guaranteed analysis.

The ingredients in the beef & chicken raw food look great and I love the mixture of muscle meat, organs, and bone. The dry matter protein content is around 46% and the carbohydrate content is pretty low. The other two raw recipes look similar in terms of formulation and low carb content, and the ingredients are ethically sourced which is always nice to hear.

The kibble is lower in protein and fat, so unsurprisingly much higher in carbohydrates. I like that the recipes are made with a single source of animal protein but I'm not crazy about peas being a main ingredient. They're harder for cats to digest than whole grains and contain anti-nutrients that may inhibit the absorption of key nutrients. That said, there's not a ton of additives and most of the protein and fat comes from animal sources.

All of Boneve's recipes appear to be formulated according to AAFCO nutrient profiles, so they're nutritionally balanced. I'd just say that the raw recipes appear to be a little more carnivore-appropriate than the kibble. No dry food is perfect, though, so if it's an affordable and accessible option for you, it could be worth trying to see if your cat likes it. Let us know how it goes!
