Odor- X is a commercial-grade sanitizer and odor eraser. It is sold in concentrate form and uses four synergistic pathways to attack odors: biologically attacking smells with the QUAT disinfectant formula, covalent bonding with odor-causing molecules, micro-emulsion encapsulation, and replacement of odors with a fresh citrus fragrance.

This means you are getting an industrial strength cleaning product. For it to work properly, water needs to be added. While Odor-X breaks down stains, the water added to it makes it water soluble. A little bit goes a long way. For general cleaning, typically a mixture of 1 part to 10 parts water works and 1 to 30 will break down most odors.

What Is A QUAT Disinfectant Formula?

Quat is the common name for quaternary ammonium chloride compounds of which there are about 300 varieties all with varying anti-microbial efficacies. Quats are generally surfactants with cationic (positive) charges. Due to their surfactant make-up, quats contribute cleaning power to their formulas.

These products are low in toxicity and corrosivity making them user friendly and simple.

Other cleaners will cost you more because they can’t be diluted as much as Odor-X. As a cleaner, it can be diluted 10-to-1 and as a stain remover, it can be diluted 30-to-1 for odors. It is safe to pour diluted formulas directly onto the source of an unwanted smell, or add to spray bottles and mop buckets to clean surfaces.

How To Use?

If you have urine in carpet that is creating odor issues, Odor-X can be used in a carpet cleaner machine at a ratio of 10 to 1. This will guarantee that the solution cleans the padding under the carpet, as well as the surface.

Cleaning carpet surfaces will NOT remove the odors completely because urine and other sources of odors, travel downward into the padding. Once in the padding, the smell will persist until the padding has been cleaned.

A carpet cleaning machine has the power to saturate the padding, as well the suction to pull everything from the padding up past the fibers.

Spot treatment may be needed in some areas of the carpet or on upholstery. Spot treating with Odor-x is perfect for stains that are fresh with a 10 to 1 ratio . It is also good for stains that may not be urine. Vomit, dirt, blood, and poop can also be treated by spot cleaning.

Spot cleaning can be performed on carpet, furniture, rugs, hardwood, tile and any other surfaces.  In instances where surface stains have odors, such as vomit stains, Odor-x can remove the smell.

While Odor-X can remove visible urine stains by spot cleaning, it is recommended you use a carpet cleaning machine in case urine has already seeped into the padding. Spot cleaning will not remove urine odor from below as previously discussed.

Odors on furniture, around litter boxes or rugs can be neutralized with odor-X. Using a spray bottle with a 30 to 1 ratio, it can be sprayed directly to the area. This will eliminate the odor and leave behind a pleasant citrus scent.

Odor-X is great for small stains. Cat owners sometimes face the frustration of vomit stains on various surfaces. Whether it be from food, bile or other things ingested, the excretion can leave a terrible stain.

Dyes in food can be difficult to remove and while some cleaners fade the stain, there is a slight discoloring where it once laid. Odor-X can be kept in a bottle and used as a spot cleaner when needed. Typically a 10 to 1 can be used to spot clean and remove pet vomit.

Besides stains and odors left behind by your beloved pets, Odor-X can remove a lot of other types of stains and odors. As stated on the label, it can be used for garbage, porta potties, skunk odor, mold, mildew, smoke odor and more.

Do I Recommend Odor- X?

Yes I would recommend Odor- X specifically for pet stains and odors. I used it to treat a pet stain (vomit) on my new carpet. I diluted it with a 10 to 1 ratio and sprayed it on the spot. It removed the odor and most of the stain, but I then used my carpet cleaner and got it all out.

The stain had apparently soaked down to the pad quickly and needed a deep cleaning. Odor-X is also cost effective and lasts a long time because of the dilution ratios. I have yet to use it on other stains like blood or mildew but it was effective removing pet stains and odors.

Conclusion

Whether you have pet stains or smells in your carpet or rugs, Odor-X can handle both the stain and the odor while leaving behind a pleasant smell. You also won’t have to worry about it damaging your floors, counters or upholstery and it is also easy on your wallet. If you have pets, Odor-X is a must have.
