About Amazing Grace
Founded by Katherine Sumner, Amazing Grace Pet Food is named for the company’s inspiration—a rescue cat named Gracie. In 2004, Gracie was brought to the Fort Belvoir, Virginia animal shelter after a snowstorm. Following her adoption by the Sumner family, Gracie lived happily for the next 14 years until an aggressive form of cancer took her life in 2019.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Gracie’s family sought to provide relief through a combination of Western medicine and holistic treatments. After Gracie’s passing, the Sumner family founded Amazing Grace Pet Food, LLC in her honor. The company’s mission is to improve pet health and longevity through quality homestyle nutrition.
Sourcing and Manufacturing
Amazing Grace Pet Food, LLC is based in Centreville, VA. Their recipes are veterinarian-formulated, but only for supplemental or intermitted feeding—the foods do not meet AAFCO requirements for complete and balanced feline nutrition.
Because Amazing Grace pet food is made in the USA by a small family-owned company, the ingredients are presumably US-sourced as well. The brand’s website is pretty simple and doesn’t provide much specific information about the products other than what’s on the label. Amazing Grace appears to cook and package the food themselves.

Being a small business, Amazing Grace produces a very limited number of pet foods. Their collection currently includes two dog food and two cat food recipes. All of Amazing Grace’s pet food products are cooked in small batches and packaged in glass jars. Because the jars are heat sealed, the food is shelf stable until opened but then must be refrigerated.
Amazing Grace cat foods are made with a single source of animal protein—either chicken or beef. The food contains a blend of muscle meat and organs with spinach, green beans, pumpkin, and eggshell. While the foods are formulated by a veterinarian, they are intended for supplemental feeding only. Amazing Grace pet foods are not nutritionally complete.
What Did Our Test Cats Think?
To test Amazing Grace cat food with my own three cats, I ordered both the chicken and beef recipes. I received my order quickly and was impressed with the amount of care that went into the packaging. Cardboard inserts kept the jars safe during shipping and the seal on the jars was very tight.
Both Amazing Grace recipes were very soft and moist. My cats loved the flavor and seemed to find both the smell and texture appealing. I particularly liked that the jars made it easy to refrigerate leftovers without having to transfer containers.

#1 Amazing Grace All-Natural Chicken Recipe for Cats

Available in 6- or 14-ounce jars, this Amazing Grace chicken recipe features a protein-rich blend of chicken muscle meat and organs. Measured as dry matter, the food contains about 58% protein and 25% fat. Made without grains or high-starch veggies, the carbohydrate content is under 10%.
The food has a soft, moist texture and it’s less gelatinous than the typical canned pate. Small bits of meat are visible in the food, but the ingredients are finely ground into a cohesive product. The recipe is made with a minimal list of whole-food ingredients, so it should be highly digestible for most cats.
While only two of my cats could test this food—the third, Biscuit, is allergic to chicken—they really enjoyed it. My cats are always partial to wet food, and they found the high moisture content of this recipe very appealing.

#2 Amazing Grace All-Natural Beef Recipe for Cats

Similar to the previous recipe, this beef formula features a blend of muscle meat and organs, this time sourced from beef. It also contains spinach and green beans as whole-food sources of key vitamins, pumpkin for fiber, and eggshell for calcium.
The dry matter protein content of this recipe is a little lower than the previous one, but the fat content is much higher. It’s a more concentrated source of calories but is still very low in carbohydrates. Again, however, it’s not nutritionally complete and should only be used for supplemental feeding.
Because it’s beef rather than chicken, this food doesn’t have the same shredded quality as the previous formula but it’s equally soft and moist. All three of my cats really enjoyed this recipe. I can see either Amazing Grace cat foods working well as a meal topper or mixer.

What Do Customers Think of Amazing Grace Cat Food?
Because Amazing Grace is only a few years old and a small business, customer reviews are limited. The brand’s own website only has two testimonials posted and the Amazing Grace Pet Food, LLC Facebook page has just five reviews. All of the posted reviews are very positive.
That said, there’s only one review specifically about Amazing Grace cat food products, and it’s three years old. The poster commented that their cat, who usually only licks the liquid from their food, devoured Amazing Grace cat food entirely. Dog owners reviewing Amazing Grace comment that the food seems to have improved the condition of their dog’s coat.
How Much Does Amazing Grace Cat Food Cost?
With only two recipes to choose from, Amazing Grace cat food is sold in 6-ounce and 14-ounce jars. The smaller 6-ounce jars cost $5.50, and the larger 14-ounce pots are $8.50 each.
