How We Tested The Litter:

  • We purchased 3 of the best cat litters World’s Best Cat Litter has to offer.
  • We spent a few weeks testing the cat litters on several cats.
  • We did not receive these product in exchange for a favorable review, they were purchased with our own money.

Brand Overview

The World’s Best Cat Litter company was founded in 1996, when a group of scientists set out with the goal of creating the best clumping cat litter on the market. In doing so, they discovered a revolutionary process that transformed natural ingredients like dried corn into a cat litter that delivered concentrated odor- and liquid-absorbing power for a cleaner, fresher litter box.

The brand’s claim to fame is the fact that World’s Best Cat Litter offers cat owners the potential of having a cleaner litter box with less mess and less waste. Compressed corn is a highly absorbent material that forms tight clumps, making the task of scooping the litter box quicker and easier than ever. Plus, hard clumps means less waste, as clean litter simply falls back into the litter box. The clumps themselves can be safely flushed down the toilet for disposal.

World’s Best Cat Litter is so confident in their products, that they offer a money-back guarantee within 90 days of purchase.

What Kinds of Litter Does the Brand Offer?

The World’s Best Cat Litter brand currently offers seven different formulas.

The Original Series including three recipes, all made from 100% natural compressed corn. The Plus Series includes one formula formulated to attract cats to the litter box. The Advanced Series includes three formulas designed to solve specific problems.

The three formulas we’re reviewing here are the clumping formulas included in the Original Series.

#1 World’s Best Cat Litter Scoopable Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

World’s Best Cat Litter Scoopable Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

Kate Barrington / Cats.com

When you have more than one cat, litter box odors can add up quickly. This clumping formula is uniquely designed for multi-cat households to reduce litter box odor and to make scooping easy. It features compressed corn for high absorbency, forming tight clumps that trap odor and are easy to scoop. This dust-free formula is environmentally-friendly, flushable and natural.

This multi-cat formula is incredibly lightweight which makes it easy to transport, and it is much less dusty than traditional clay litter. In testing, we found it to be a little dusty when first pouring fresh litter into the box, but the dust settled very quickly and wasn’t an issue from that point on. The litter formed tight, hard clumps which made the box easy to scoop and it resulted in very little waste.

Pros:

  • Excellent clumping action, easy to scoop.
  • Naturally absorbent compressed corn materials absorb liquid on contact.
  • Subtle natural scent, no added fragrance.
  • Very low dust and relatively low tracking compared to clay litters.

Cons:

  • May develop a foul odor when exposed to a large amount of urine.
  • Offers moderate odor control, requires frequent scooping for better results.

This litter comes in 7, 14, and 28-pound bags. Because the litter is made from compressed corn rather than clay, it is lightweight compared to most traditional cat litters.

#2 World’s Best Cat Litter Clumping Formula

World’s Best Cat Litter Clumping Formula

Kate Barrington / Cats.com

Made from natural compressed corn materials, this clumping cat litter is free from silica dust so you and your cat can breathe easy. It forms tight, hard clumps for easy scooping, and it is biodegradable and flushable for easy disposal. This cat litter is eco-friendly and unscented, making it an excellent choice for single cat and multi-cat households.

Like the other formulas tested, this litter produced a little dust when first pouring but it settled quickly and was not a long-lasting issue. The litter did take on an unpleasant odor when exposed to large volumes of urine, but frequent scooping was sufficient to control litter box odor. The litter itself had a very slight scent to it but nothing strong enough to irritate cats with sensitive noses.

This litter comes in 7, 14, and 28-pound bags. Because the litter is made from compressed corn rather than clay, it is also lightweight, just like the previous product reviewed above.

#3 World’s Best Cat Litter Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

World’s Best Cat Litter Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

Kate Barrington / Cats.com

This scented formula offers the same hard-clumping benefits as the other two formulas, with the addition of a pleasant lavender scent. Generally speaking, World’s Best Cat Litter offers average odor control – when exposed to a significant amount of urine it can retain some odor. In this case, the lavender scent helps to mask that odor, keeping the litter box smelling fresher for longer.

In addition to its pleasant scent, this cat litter is eco-friendly and flushable. It forms hard clumps on contact with both solid and liquid waste, relying on the benefit of the fresh lavender scent to control odors for longer than average. It is very low in dust and low-tracking as well, helping you keep your house clean. Plus, it is formulated for multiple cat households.

Cons:

  • Litter may take on an unpleasant odor when exposed to a significant amount of urine.
  • Some cats find the lavender scent unpleasant or too strong.

What Do Customers Think of World’s Best Cat Litter?

Pet owners are a picky bunch, to be sure. When it comes to products like cat litter, there are certain basic requirements that must be met in order to satisfy a cat owner. For the most part, World’s Best Cat Litter meets or exceeds these requirements, and customers are largely satisfied with the brand.

This being said, every customer’s experience is unique, and there are both good and bad reviews for the brand online. Keep reading to see a positive and negative customer review for each of the three cat litter formulas featured above:

Positive Customer Reviews for World’s Best Cat Litter

“I love this cat litter. I made the switch after discovering that most traditional litters contain silica, which when inhaled over time, can cause lung diseases including cancer. I thought, what do I have to lose? With a name like World’s Best Cat Litter, maybe it really was good stuff! Well, it sure is. This litter is literally just ground up dried corn. That is it. It is magical, clumps very tightly, and doesn’t have little bits breaking off and crumbling away. My cats had zero issues adjusting to their new litter.” – CaitlinCatLady, reviewing World’s Best Scoopable Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

“Highly recommend the World’s Best green bag formula! I’ve used this product for 12 years with two cats. We are sensitive to smells and wanted to easily clean the litter box. A friend recommended this – it’s so easy to flush feces daily (or hourly)! Clumps well too. I tried the multi-cat formula once but seemed to have a perfume/odor. This green bag formula doesn’t have odors and works great.” -Julia, reviewing World’s Best Clumping Formula

“Happy customer! This stuff is awesome! My 2 cats with 3 litter boxes means a lot of scooping. This is the easiest, cleanest litter to scoop. Pee clumps quickly, but doesn’t stick to the box, just to the waste! Even if your cat, like mine, pees at the very edge of the box, you’ll scoop the clump without any scraping or chipping away to dislodge it from the box. It lifts right out.” – Cleaner, reviewing World’s Best Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

Negative Customer Reviews for World’s Best Cat Litter

“My cat is a Maine Coon. He is huge and makes a lot of urine. He was too big for this litter… The urinated litter sticks to the bottom of the pan like goo. He is so big he also tracked it around the bathroom. I used to clean the box and floor every day or two… I don’t advise this for an adult cat whose urine comes out like a race horse. But a small cat is okay.”  – Pippinsmom, reviewing World’s Best Scoopable Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

“This litter works very well right out of the bag. It forms tight clumps and traps odors. I never smelled anything! However, a few weeks of just topping off the litter when I scooped as needed, I noticed the litter overall was turning into a fine dust. This dust ends up everywhere plus the litter tracks far and wide. I always assume clumping litter will track, and I will say this is not nearly as bad as clay litter.” – CatOwner, reviewing World’s Best Clumping Formula

“My first impression is the lavender smell is not great. Second, it does not hide smells it more mixes with the smells and creates an even worse smell. I was using basic clay litter from my local store before, it was way cheaper, and I never smelled the litter box. With this litter, I smell it all through the house. However, it is really easy to clean! It clumps really well.” – Imalady, reviewing World’s Best Lavender Scented Multiple Cat Clumping Formula

How Much Does World’s Best Cat Litter Cost?

Many cat litters made from natural materials are more expensive than traditional clay litters, but that is not the case with World’s Best Cat Litter.

This brand is similarly priced to traditional litters, but you actually get more for your money due to the concentrated power of naturally absorbent corn materials. A small bag of World’s Best Cat Litter lasts one cat 30 days or longer because it is low-waste and would normally cost between $1.1-$1.2 per pound.

Overall, Is World’s Best Cat Litter a Good Choice?

We are happy to report that World’s Best Cat Litter lives up to its name. There are many things to love about this brand, not least the affordable price. The fact that this brand uses only natural, compressed corn materials means that every formula is lightweight, highly absorbent, and flushable. This makes World’s Best one of the easiest, most convenient cat litter brands for cat owners.

One thing to be mindful of with this brand is that some formulas are scented. We found the lavender scent to be very light and pleasant, but some customers found that the scent mixed unpleasantly with litter box odors. If you’re sensitive to smells, you may want to stick to unscented formulas.

All of World’s Best Cat Litter’s formulas are safe for kittens over 8 weeks of age and for adult and senior cats. One final concern is the fact that it is made from natural materials so it may attract insects. You can avoid this issue by tightly sealing the bag and by not placing your litter box outside in humid areas.

Where Is World’s Best Cat Litter Sold?

World’s Best Cat Litter is sold online and in pet stores. You can find it for sale from online retailers like Chewy and Amazon as well as big box stores like Walmart and Target, and local and national pet stores such as PetSmart and Petco.

So glad I read this review. I’ve been considering buying some World’s Best cat litter, but I have a huge cat who pees a ton. Sounds like this is not what I’m looking for at all.

I have used this litter for years, and the friends I have introduced to it love it as well. We had on open box in our hallway to serve our multiple cats and were always amazed at the lack of any unpleasant odors. It’s eco-friendliness is a bonus.

I found this brand while looking for kitten attract litter. I foster, and things can get messy! It’s so light and clumps so well and quickly! It does have a fine dust if you don’t switch out the whole pan for a while, all the smaller stuff gets left behind when you scoop out clumps. Honestly though, I didn’t realize it was corn based until after I bought it, so the Eco friendly makes even more attractive. I feel that, even though the price is higher than I would like to pay (as a foster mom), it’s worth it when it helps the kittens learn to go NOT ON THE FLOOR! LOL! I would consider buying it for all my cats if I could buy it in bulk & cheaper!

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend, eco friendly, low dust, lasts long time. I have one cat and I scoop the box morning and night. Yes, there was a minimum of dust when filling the box, but the foul/sour odor that remains after my cat urinates is off putting and it doesn’t go away after scooping the clumps out. When I used clay litter, there was never an odor. After I finish the bags I have, I will probably go back to Dr. Easley’s litter.

I have used this intermittently over the years with Oka Cats Best but this year have only used World’s Best. The litter trays for both cats are kept in a bathroom but, unbeknown to me, corn when it becomes damp and moist develops a toxic mould and one cat had a severe allergic reaction which resulted in an asthma attack and a very poorly cat. The skin in between his toes was very red and the vet took lots of tests. A warning should be added to the packet about the potential dangers of corn based cat litter and how it should be properly stored and used. If you google it there are many comments on the internet re. concerns about corn based cat litter.

There must be a bentonite clay supply chain issue with COVID 19 because the ultra expensive ($17 a bag) cat litter products were the only ones on the shelf. I had no choice but select America’s Best or go hunting down a bentonite clay based litter box filler. Instead of blowing $3-$4 on cat box filler, I had to blow nearly $20.
I don’t scoop, I discard the entire contents of the litter box.
My cats started using the cat litter and stopped after 2-3 days.
World’s best cat litter has been the absolute worst cat litter product I’ve ever used.
Urine glues litter/urine to the bottom of the litter box making cleaning a HUGE problem.
The World’s Best Cat Litter is absolutely proven itself to be the world’s worst cat litter in actuality.
I’ll never buy another bag, EVER.

Love this litter but what I don’t understand why this company has a lavender scented option. As LAVENDER IS TOXIC TO CATS IN ANY FORM. If this company truly cares about animals how about not using scents that are toxic to pets.

Jen, to my understanding, only the essential oils from the lavender plant are toxic to cats. This is a good question, though, and perhaps the company should make this clear.

That’s worrying. Can you open the bags to check what’s inside? This is definitely something you should report to World’s Best Cat Litter directly.

I’ve been using this litter for years. I also use it for my senior cats who urinate and grapefruit size clumps. It handles the owner and the size. Even if I don’t change the litter for a month and the box only has about an inch, it will still clump, yes, it will stick to the bottom, but it will clump if you let it sit there for a bit. If you have big cats like I used to the best thing is to make it very very sick and they are and will not even touch the bottom.

Over the years, we’ve used many different brands of ittler; we have always cxome back to World’s Best. We recently experienced a problem with a bag bought at a local supermarket. World’s best want all the information we could provie, batch number, etc. The appology was huge and coupons covering the cost of the bad batxh were sent. e have gone back to buying World’s Best through Amazon. Our conclusion ia that the bag was contaminated in shipping and/or storage.

I’ve read comments about foul odor, I have 6 cats 6 litter boxes zero odor. it’s all about cleaning/scooping at least twice a day. I but non scented and still zero odor, I scoop in the am and pm. There is little dust, besides it’s great for the environment. Tried several clay doesn’t compare by a long shot. Environmental friendly is the way to go, so easy to scoop no sticking to the bottom.
