#1 Brit Care Cat Pouch Trout & Cod in Jelly Review

Brit offers such a wide range of foods for cats, we thought it was a good idea to try to cover several of their different product lines in our reviews. We can also look at some of the different packaging formats for their recipes. Cats can have different preferences when it comes to what kind of food they prefer and Brit has more options than most brands.

Brit Care is listed as a relatively new super premium product line for the company but it covers several dozen different formulas in various packaging: kibble, pouches, cans, paste. Some are formulated for specific health issues. We decided to look at Brit Care Cat Pouch Trout & Cod in Jelly since it is likely to be a favorite for many cats. The pouches contain 85 grams.

These trout and cod fillets in jelly are enriched with carrot and rosemary for digestive support. This is a complete super premium wet food for adult cats.

According to Brit, this food is a good choice for cats that are extra picky or any cat that has issues with eating food. It has a lot of flavor appeal for cats. The fillets can help increase the diversity of your cat’s diet.

This is a grain free formula that contains 85 percent meat from the fillets. It has no GMO ingredients, no soy, and no added sugars.

The first ingredients are meat (chicken, liver, trout, cod), broth, carrot, and rosemary. There is some pea starch but it is the last ingredient, after the minerals. It likely helps make the jelly for the fillets.

We think that Brit Care Cat Pouch Trout & Cod in Jelly looks like a good food with good ingredients that many cats will enjoy. Brit’s other pouch foods also look good.

#2 Brit Premium by Nature Meat Sausage Chicken & Rabbit Review

Brit Premium by Nature Meat Sausage Chicken & Rabbit is a complete food for cats. We rarely see this kind of meat roll for cats. It’s more common for dogs. We couldn’t pass up reviewing it.

If you’re not familiar with meat rolls, they typically fall somewhere near canned foods in terms of their nutrient values, though they have slightly less moisture. They are also normally high in calories. They can be a good choice for active cats or cats that need to gain weight (as long as their health situation permits).

Brit Premium by Nature Meat Sausage Chicken & Rabbit contains chicken (meat, liver, hearts, necks, stomachs), rabbit (meat, liver, hearts), peas, broth, and salmon oil as the main ingredients. As you probably know, those internal parts are appealing to most cats. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals. According to Brit, the food contains 95 percent meat with giblets.

This food contains no salt and no preservatives. This food does need to be refrigerated after it is cut open.

Since this is a sausage or rolled meat, you need to cut off a small slice of the food for your cat as a serving. You can chop it up to feed to your cat as a meal or add some to your cat’s regular food. If your cat is on the plump side, use sparingly since it is high in calories.

Based on the ingredients and nutrient values, we think Brit Premium By Nature Meat Sausage Chicken & Rabbit looks like a good food for cats. Some cats might take some time to get used to it since this is an unusual method of feeding them but they should like it if they try it. Recommended.

#3 Brit Premium by Nature Cat Kitten Chicken Review

Even though many of us worry about our cats consuming enough moisture in their diets, some cats still like to eat dry cat food. If you have a cat that prefers dry food, sometimes you have to give in and feed your cat a dry food while encouraging him to drink enough water; or add some wet food or broth to his kibble to get more moisture in his diet. At least you need to make sure you are feeding a good quality dry food.

Brit makes a number of dry foods in their Brit Care and Brit Premium lines. We wanted to look at one of their foods that would equate to an all life stage formula so it could be fed to cats of all ages. Brit Premium by Nature Cat Kitten Chicken is formulated for kittens 1-12 months. It’s also for pregnant and lactating cats and can be fed to any adult cat.

The first ingredients in this food are: dehydrated chicken, rice, chicken fat, peas, and dehydrated salmon. It also contains apple pulp as a source of fiber. Chicken and salmon are excellent sources of protein for cats. Chicken fat is a good source of quality fat. Fat is necessary in your cat’s diet for energy. In addition, some vitamins are only soluble in fat.

This is a dry cat food so we expect a starch such as rice, at least in moderation.

The food also contains hydrolyzed chicken liver which is a good source of vitamins. It also contains salmon oil which provides omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are good for your kitten and cat’s skin, coat, heart, eyes, and brain development.

The food also has MOS and FOS. MOS are prebiotics that are good for your cat’s digestion. FOS are kinds of fructose that provide dietary fiber. It also contains herbs such as rosemary and curcuma (turmeric) which provide antioxidants and other health benefits for your cat.

Overall, Brit Premium by Nature Cat Kitten Chicken dry food appears to contain healthy ingredients and should provide good nutrition for your growing kitten or adult cat. Do make sure that you make fresh water easily available for your cat if you feed a dry food.

What Do Customers Think of Brit Cat Food?

We found customer reviews for Brit cat foods on Zoomalia.co.uk which appear to be from French speakers. Most of the reviews were positive and 80 percent said they would recommend the food again.

How Much Does Brit Cat Food Cost?

If you are in the U.S., you can order Brit cat foods from Vivapets.com (in Portugal). The prices for the food are reasonable but the shipping costs tend to be high.

We found Brit Blue Cat Adult Chicken, 8 kg, on the site for $5.96. This food has chicken meal and poultry protein along with maize, rice, corn gluten, and poultry fat so it appears to be a lower quality food than the foods sold in Europe.

In Italy we found 7 kg bags of super premium dry Brit cat food currently selling for around € 51.74. It appears that prices have almost doubled for the super premium foods in the last four years, perhaps due to supply chain issues.

If you live in one of the countries where Brit cat foods are sold, you may find better prices locally.

Overall, Is Brit Cat Food a Good Choice?

Yes, we do think that Brit cat foods are good foods, in general. Brit Care and Brit Premium foods, in particular, look like they have very good formulas. That includes their wet and dry foods.

We do note that Brit is made by a very large company in Europe so they seem to have a range of foods. The Brit Blue Cat food we found with some lower quality ingredients would not be considered a high quality product.

Nutritionally, we would compare Brit dry foods to recipes from popular brands like Purina One or Blue Buffalo. Some of their wet foods are similar to those from Tiki Cat.

How Do You Order Brit Cat Food?

Brit sells their cat food in about 75 countries. Check the Brit web site for shops in your area. Type in an address or shop name to find a store that sells the food near you.

    Hello,
I have been trying to find a certain food for my cat (1 year old) who is neutered, he is a 5.4 kg male and we are worried that he is too fat for his age. We want to switch to Brit sterilized, until now he was fed Purina pro plan sterilized juniors, he was neutered at the age of 8 months. Until he was castrated, he was fed Applaws kitten and Schesir. Can you make a topic about food for neutered cats?
Thank you so much for your efforts!

Hi Stefan, it’s an interesting idea! Usually, people will just cut back on their cat’s existing kitten food rather than switching diets altogether, but it’s definitely worth giving some more attention in a full article. Thank you!

    Hi,

Althought you said the Brit care food is a good brand and has good formulas, you compared Brit dry food to Blue Buffalo, which I know is not seen as a very good option for cats food.

Could you clarify this info, please? As I am feeding my cat a mix of Acana and Brit care food.

    Thank you!

This was in terms of the nutritional value of the dry food only—not the brand as a whole. Overall, Brit Care looks like a more reputable, trustworthy brand than Blue Buffalo, and I think you can feel more confident feeding their recipes than those from Blue Buffalo. I’ve edited the article to clarify.

    Hello,
After a long research and searching which cat food to buy for my cats with limited reviews of brands that are also in Europe I have chosen to try Brit Care cat food.
I am very happy with wet food and so are the cats, even though it is a bit more smelly than other wet food that I have tried.
However, dry food has made my cats have a diarrhea, so I would recommend trying it carefully, even though before I have used Hill’s science dry food without an issue.

I have two cats and both of them were having diarrhea.
I have changed dry food from Brit Care to Josera and one of the cats has stopped having diarrhea, however, the other one is still having problems so I will try going back to Hill’s science.

Hello. I ordered some brit cat food for sensitive stomach. However, I am very interested in knowing how the animals (meat) have been breed. I care a lot about animal welfare and only buy meat my self that are labeled animal welfare (we have those labels in Denmark).
