What Kinds Of Litter Does The Brand Offer?

The Hagen Pet brand manufactures and sells Catit Go Natural Cat litter. There are currently three formulas to choose from, all made from natural materials.

Catit Go Natural Cat sells clumping cat litter formulas made from natural wood granules and pea husk pellets. The granules absorb up to 3 times their weight in liquid while the pellets absorb up to 500% of their weight, forming tight, small, clumps.

The Catit Go Natural Cat Litters are dust free, very lightweight, and do not stick to the litter box. This means there is no unsafe airborne dust while pouring and scooping the litter.

The Catit Go Natural Cat Litters are completely free from chemicals, dyes, and synthetic ingredients. The litter also comes vacuum sealed to take up 30% less space, which reduces CO2 emissions during warehousing and transportation.

The three formulas we’re reviewing here are the clumping formulas included in the Natural Series.

Top 3 Cat Litters Reviewed

#1 Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter

Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter

Wood litters are becoming a more popular alternative to clay cat litter because they are better for your cat’s health, better for the environment, and result in less mess. Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Litter is an all-natural litter that is made from FSC-certified wood (various types of conifer wood) which is naturally lightweight, superior absorbency rate, is 99% dust-free, and easy clumps to scoop. This litter is unscented and chemical-free as well.

This Catit Go Natural Cat Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter is pelletized and then crushed into smaller granules, which helps to cover cat waste and absorb cat urine more effectively than regular litter pellets.

This means the litter offers both higher absorbency and higher yield than clumping clay litter and even other natural litters. This litter had almost no dust, but the small and lightweight granules did track all over the house and stick to my cat’s paws.

Our main concern when testing the Catit Go Natural Cat Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter was how it controls odor. In a multi-cat household, odors happen quickly and we were worried that this natural litter could not handle it. Surprisingly the Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter proved otherwise.

The litter itself had a woody and natural smell, but not too strong. As far as odor control, this litter did very well with multiple cats when scooped daily.

This natural wood litter absorbed liquid fast and before it could soak to the bottom of the box. It also formed fairly tight clumps that were easy to scoop and dispose of.

The clumps are not as firm as clay litter but this litter can be disposed of in a toilet or used for compost.

As far as scooping goes, we were able to use a regular litter scoop.

Category Rating
Price 3/5
Clumping Action 4/5
Odor Control 4/5
Dust/Mess 2/5
Scent 5/5

Overall Rating 3.75/5

Pros

  • Made from all-natural, sustainable, and biodegradable materials
  • Absorbs liquid quickly and forms clumps for easy disposal
  • Free of chemicals, additives, and pesticides

Cons

  • Litter is tracked all over and sticks to paws
  • Litter must be deep enough to catch liquid from hitting the bottom
  • More expensive than clay litters and other natural options

The bags come in 6 and 15-liter sizes and 1 liter of litter weighs approximately 1 pound. Because it is made from all-natural crushed wood granules, this litter is unusually lightweight.

#2 Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Vanilla

A litter made with recycled empty pea husks that would otherwise get discarded may sound like a strange choice but the absorbency proves otherwise. Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter may be a great natural litter choice for cats who don’t mind the texture.

Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter is a naturally lightweight option made with raw, food-grade materials such as starch, corn powder, and guar gum, that assist as natural clumping agents. This plant-based litter has a  natural and soft feel on your cat’s paws. The pea husk cat litter pellets are much smaller when compared to products like tofu cat litter and are about the size of ice cream sprinkles.

These Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter pellets have a unique diameter of 1.5 mm, which is much more absorbent when compared to clay litters. This means the litter can absorb up to 3 times its weight. The pellets worked well with a regular litter scoop, but some of the clumps did tend to fall apart a bit more than a clay litter.  Also, if you do not add enough of the pea husk litter to your cat’s litter box, liquid may get to the bottom before the litter can absorb and this may cause some sticking.

In addition to being highly absorbent, This Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter does a good job of controlling odors and has a nice vanilla scent. However, it is designed for single-cat households but works well when scooped daily.

We liked that it has a light vanilla scent and that it was extremely low in dust. It also did not track or stick to paws normally.

Category Rating

Pros

  • Eco-friendly formula made with biodegradable materials
  • Absorb up to 3 times its own weight and clumps well
  • Litter is produced and packed sustainably

Cons

  • Needs daily cleaning for multi-cat homes
  • Clumps may fall apart more easily than with clay litter
  • More expensive compared to other natural litter

This litter comes in a 12.3-pound box and has two scents, vanilla, and lavender. Because it is made from pea husk, this litter is fairly lightweight.

#3 Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Lavender

A common complaint among cat owners is how dusty litter can be, especially to those with allergies. The Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter is 99% dust-free while pouring or scooping.

We found that the Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter seems to be dust-free and that it is also highly absorbent as well as does a good job of controlling odor. It smells very natural with a hint of lavender and is not too overpowering.

The Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter (with other natural materials) is said to absorb more than three times its weight in liquid and appeared to do so as well as clumped pretty solid. When scooping there was some breakage of the clumps but this litter is designed to break down in the toilet or when composted.

A box of Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter is supposed to last 60 days in a single-cat household. But that depends on the size of your litter box, the number and size of the cats using it, and how much your cats drink.

We found this litter controlled odor well for about 30 days in a two-cat home when scooped daily.

Category Rating

Pros

  • Made from raw, plant-based, and food-grade materials

  • Should last 60 days in a single-cat household

Cons

  • Some cats may not like the lavender smell
  • Clumps may not stay solid when scooping
  • Cost more than other natural litter

This litter comes in an airtight 12.3-pound box and like the previous product, is made from all-natural raw, plant-based, and food-grade materials and is non-toxic.

Of course, everyone has a different experience, and there are both good and bad reviews for the brand online. Keep reading to see positive and negative customer reviews for each of the three cat litter formulas featured above:

Positive Reviews

We’ve had cats continuously for more than 30 years and I run a kitten rescue. We searched high and low and tried about a dozen different litters trying to find one for our kitty who developed alopecia on her stomach and abdomen and sores from constant scratching or licking. This litter fit the bill; her fur has started growing back and her sores are nearly gone! To make things even better, the litter controls odor better than any other we’ve tried and the scent is very delicate. There’s no dust and any litter tracked out of the box is gentle on our hardwood floors. Plus, scooping the litter and cleaning the box is super easy! We also love that it’s made from a renewable resource. I honestly cannot think of a single bad thing to say about this litter.– by N. S. Hancock, reviewing Catit Go Natural Cat Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Vanilla on February 24, 2022

Its best quality is NO DUST! Our cat is susceptible to sinus allergy and if litter is dusty, even a little, her nose starts to run, then clogged. She doesn’t have any sinus issues when using this litter. As for tracking, we’ve tried just about every litter out there but have not come across trackless litter – Ever. Our cat tends to grip grainy litters so they scatter far and wide throughout the house. This litter is pelletized and It clumps fast and scoops easily. Yes, it still tracks but doesn’t travel too far from the litter box as the pellet form prevents it from getting scattered all over. Not sure if Vanilla or Lavender scents were necessary, I think it can control odor without added scent. They are not unpleasant, however. There are no such thing as a perfect litter (yet), but this one comes close in our household. Sometimes it’s hard to find this litter, even at the Catit site, and the price seems to be going up. I hope they can keep stock and make the pricing more affordable.” – by NMN in paradise, reviewing Catit Go Natural Cat Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Vanilla on February 13, 2022

Used to use this and as it clumps so tightly it does last..but…..the smell of cat poop mixed with vanilla is quite sickening until it absorbs the smells. I think a non scented would be a good option! Also arrives vacuum packed so great at saving space. –  by Amazon Customer, reviewing Catit Go Natural Cat Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Vanilla on October 11, 2021

Negative Reviews

Won’t Buy Again

  1. The package was much smaller than expected.
  2. Doesn’t clump well. There will be clumps then much smaller clumps throughout the litter as it doesn’t clumps in one piece.
  3. Is dusty.

Save your money and go with something else!. – by Season, reviewing Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter on March 24, 2022

Do not get this product- it makes mud when it gets wet and gets on the cat and floor. This litter gets wet and makes mucky mud and they step in it and get it all over themselves and the floor. It would be awesome if it didn’t make a liquid when it got wet. there is no tracking and no dust. But the wet litter mud makes it impossible to use it. It was on my cat’s fur on his behind and private part. Returning for my money back. Back to dusty corn litter. Ugh. – by A. A., reviewing Catit Go Natural Cat Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter – Vanilla on May 25, 2022

How Much Does Catit Go Natural Cat Cat Litter Cost?

The benefit of using Catit Go Natural Cat litters is that they are made from all-natural materials and offer a few different clumping formulas. However, Catit Go Natural Cat Litters are quite a bit more expensive than clay litters and a little pricier than other natural litters.

Catit Go Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter ranges from $13.99 for a 6-liter bag to $26.99 for a 15-liter bag. That is a cost of about $1.05 per pound. The Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter will run you $23.99 for a 12.3-pound box in either vanilla or lavender scent. That is about 1.95 a pound.

Overall, Is Catit Go Natural Cat Litter A Good Choice?

Pouring the Catit Go Natural Pea Husk Litter and no dust to report. Amy Brown-Towry / Cats.com

We were very impressed with Catit Go Natural Cat litter, especially the pea husk formula because it really is dust free. We love that their litters are made from plant-based, sustainable materials with the bonus that they can be composted or flushed.

We were surprised at how well the litter-controlled odors and the vanilla scent was our favorite. We were pleased with how lightweight the formulas were even if the wood formula tended to track. Scooping the clumps was also fairly easy with little problem sifting with a regular litter scoop.

The thing to remember about these litters is that they are not the most cost-effective for multi-cat households. Because Catit Go Natural Cat Litters claim to last 60 days, a multi-cat home will cut that time in half and require daily cleanings.

The wood formula did develop an odor after about 2 weeks of scooping the box daily. If you have more than one cat, you will want to change out the litter every 30 days or offer two litter boxes. This means twice the cost.

Where Is Catit Go Natural Cat Litter Sold?

Catit Go Natural Cat litter is sold on their website and in select pet stores. You can find it on Amazon but it is often unavailable.

i used catit pea husk litter for about one year. it is expensive but you can always buy it from PetSmart during cyber week or black friday or national day promotion and so on…. promotion is huge…. regular price is 25.99 cad. after several discount stacked together,,, it’s about 15cad….like 11 usd for 1box/2bags.

also, i suggest mix it with dr elsey precious cat ultra unscented clay litter… may be 50/50. first thing is 1bag catit is not enough for 1month. (especially when you feed wet food) if you keep adding more catit. you will waste a lot of expensive litter when you change the whole box at the end of month. so mix it with dr elsey. you will save your money.

secondly, dr elsey is more heavier than catit. it means. dr elsey will go down to the bottom quickly. catit will cover it. this reduced clay litter’s track and dust. almost 0 dust. almost 0track.

also, catit cannot wrap poo! (like all other tofu litter) but dr elsey can. this helps reduce odor further.

try to use catit. buy it when on sale. try to mix with good clay litter such as dr elsey or slide or any brand you like. they almost perfect.
